It looks like our friends at Microsoft have finally pushed .NET 3.5 as an important update to all Windows Server 2003 machines; luckily for us, Windows Home Server fits into that category too!

Here’s the proof (screenshot from my production Windows Home Server, that definitely did not have .NET 3.5 installed prior to this update):

whs-dotnet-3.5-installed

It’ll be interesting to see if we get a spike in the number of Add-Ins built with .NET 3.5 in the next few months. Bring on the W*F Add-Ins.

Not sure what would cause that - have you tried connecting via Remote Desktop?

Probably not caused by a .NET Framework upgrade, then.

I'd suggest posting your problem in the WGS forums: http://forum.wegotserved.co.uk/

Remote desktop does not work after upgrade to net framework 3.5 - computer freezes, after upgrade to net framework 3.5 SP1 always immediately restarts

Hi Phil,

Looks like MS is seeing a couple of issues similar to yours and mos50's after the 3.5 SP1 update.

They've requested that you log a bug at https://connect.microsoft.com/WindowsHomeServer so they can grab logs etc and try to diagnose the issue.

Instructions on how to submit a bug:

Instructions for generating CABs: connect.microsoft.com/.../content.aspx

To file a connect bug on Windows Home Server:
- A live ID is required.
- Navigate to http://connect.microsoft.com/windowshomeserver.
- Click the link where is says "Test the latest beta software by joining the *Windows Home Server Connect program*."
- Then, once joined navigate to the feedback section by clicking feedback in the left hand navigation menu.
- connect.microsoft.com/WindowsHomeServer/Feedback
